Gandino - The Museum of the Basilica

The Basilica Museum, which serves to house numerous works of art belonging to the parish, was inaugurated in 1929 (it was a forerunner of its kind and strongly backed by Monsignor Angelo Roncalli, who became Pope John XXIII). It primarily holds the extraordinary treasures that merchants and noble families donated to Gandino’s churches and most of all, the noteworthy Basilica from the 15th century to the present.
The collections bring together mostly Italian, German, French, Flemish, Austrian and more generally, Middle-European works.
